Titan Comics, out now

Fracktown 2032 and ex-Blade Runner Miguel has armed Elle to rescue his wife and daughter, who have been kidnapped by boss Barnes.

The sequel to animated Blade Runner spin-off Black Lotus hits its stride in this tale of two warring factions in a small town, which owes no small debt to Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars, which itself was inspired by Kurosawa’s Yojimbo.

Instead of Eastwood’s Man with no Name, we have Replicant Elle, armed with a Samurai sword and riding her trusty steed into town (in this case a Spinner Bike) with a fistful of nano-plastic explosives. Mayhem ensues, there’s fire and violence, and we’re left in no doubt by the final panel that there’s a reckoning to be had in the final chapter.

Verdict: Leone meets future noir in this timeless tale of revenge and taking down the bad guys. 8/10
