Crowd Network, out now

What it feels like for a girl.

Are you sitting uncomfortably? Then she’ll conclude.

Even as she pushes forward with her plan to verify her suspicions – even though she knows – Eliza is hopelessly holding onto hope. Hope that He isn’t actually capable of building her up – quite literally – only to use her in such a base way. The opening minutes of this closing episode are not comfortable listening, but they’re not supposed to be. It’s a tiny window into the physically and mentally destructive power of rape and it’s incredibly powerful.

Do people in the justice system have to undergo training to understand the impact of various crimes before they are permitted to sit in judgement and hand down sentencing? If so, ‘Eliza: A Robot Story’ should be required listening.

His actions demonstrate that Eliza has more humanity than Him and as His mask finally slips, Eliza takes back her agency. There’s a period during which we are unsure what exactly happened, but you may find yourself sympathising with this most human – most female – of robots.

We learn what happened to her files. We learn what they tried to do to silence her. We learn there are people who are on her side, who are her friend.

So there are some satisfying conclusions to the main arc, while at the same time we are also left with the distinct feeling that we have turned a corner on a path and now we can see a bright light far in the distance… it’s that feeling of hope. Is that Eliza’s gift to us?

Verdict: One voice raises another. Be her friend, if she raises hers. 10/10
