The opening episodes of Starfleet Academy give the latest part of the franchise a strong start:

The main thrust of the story just feels like good, old-school Trek, with smart people trying to sort out big problems in the most creative way. By the end of the first episode, all the ducks are in a line – job done.

    • It may lack the subtlety that was more popular around The Next Generation’s time. And for obvious reasons that’s a major challenge. But I’m still giving it a chance.
