No matter what you may have read, the first BBC audio drama was actually broadcast on Christmas Eve 1922 – and it was genre-adjacent.
The Truth About Christmas was written by Phyllis Twigg, and B7 Media have produced a new play to be broadcast this Christmas Eve at 2.15 pm on Radio 4 to celebrate it.
Written by Paul Kerensa Young and directed by Helen Quigley, with music by Neil Brand and sound design by Eloise Whitmore, The Truth About Phyllis Twigg features Phyllis’s great-great-granddaughter Flora asher own great grandmother, Anne Twigg.
