Following on from the successful auction in Los Angeles earlier this year, more art by John R. Mullaney is coming up for auction, this time at the Propstore sale from 5-7 December.

Eight original artworks – created in pencil, ink and watercolour – are up for auction, spanning commissions for 20th Century Studios & Lucasfilm and published by Insight Editions, Dorling Kindersley and Free League Publishing.

These pieces were produced for official titles including:

  • Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report (2014)
  • Alien RPG (2019)
  • Star Wars Incredible Cross-Sections/Complete Vehicles

Three of the Alien pieces – the Nostromo, Powerloader and Sulaco – appear together in a double-page spread in Propstore’s auction catalogue (lots 20–22).

Mullaney exclusively told Sci-Fi Bulletin, “It’s a real pleasure to collaborate with Propstore once more. They’re the global benchmark for handling iconic film and TV memorabilia, so it’s wonderful to see my Alien and Star Wars originals showcased as part of their London auction. Interest has already been incredibly strong – six of the eight pieces have met their reserve ahead of the sale – and it’s exciting to see that level of enthusiasm from collectors. These artworks were created to be pored over, and I’m delighted at the thought of them going to new homes where every bit of the detail can be enjoyed.”

If you’re a collector of original film art, Alien lore, or Star Wars world-building, bidding is now open – with the live auction taking place three weeks today. Check out the auction listings here.
