There won’t be overt links to the Skywalker saga in Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, out in 2027, bar being set in that galaxy far, far away a long time ago…

Speaking to Collider while promoting Stranger Things season 5, Levy noted, “It is an all-new non-sequel, non-prequel adventure. It’s new characters, it’s a new timeline. It inherits legacy themes, but it’s really trying to give Star Wars [fans] — and just movie audiences — something fresh, something new”, adding, “Lucasfilm has been so encouraging of me doing something new. There’s no pressure to be derivative or limited by an obligation to what came before.”

The movie stars Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams and is currently set for release on May 28. 2027.
