American actress June Lockhart, who played Maureen Robinson in the original Lost in Space, has died aged 100.

“Mommy always considered acting as her craft, her vocation, but her true passions were journalism, politics, science and NASA,” her daughter Elizabeth said in a statement. “She cherished playing her role in Lost in Space and she was delighted to know that she inspired many future astronauts, as they would remind her on visits to NASA. That meant even more to her than the hundreds of television and movies roles she played.”

Her other genre roles included Troll (1986), CHUD II and the Principal in the 1998 Lost in Space film on the big screen,  while on TV she appeared in Science Fiction Theatre, Bewitched, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Man From UNCLE, Babylon 5 and the Netflix Lost in Space.
