After three years of radio silence we finally have a date for the return of The Witcher! Now starring Liam Hemsworth, the show will return for eight episodes on October 30th and a final season at a later date. Along with the date we also have a first look at the show and Alasdair Stuart thinks it’s looking pretty great! There’s a lot of scepticism, some for understandable reasons, but take a look at this.

0.03 – Yep. that’s Geralt

Hemsworth has found a take that’s recognisably Geralt but isn’t a cover version of Cavill. We don’t get much dialogue, but he sounds good and he’s got the physical presence for sure.

0.10 – The Monster

I love how physical and gnarly the monster feels. It’s ephemeral and fast moving but also burly.

0.29 – The Action

I love how this fight’s shot. The long shots, the distinctive sword moves. I especially love how Geralt continually shifts tactics. We start with sword work, go through what looks like Geralt using signs magic and finishes with a smart physical beat, containment and punching. Good times!

The Witcher Season 4 is eight episodes long and arrives on October 30th. I’m looking forward to it.
