Doctor Who script editor and writer Christopher H. Bidmead has died, aged 84.

Bidmead script-edited Season 18 of the classic show, also penning the scripts for Logpoplis and Castrovalva, Tom Baker’s last and Peter Davison’s first stories respectively. He returned to the series for Davison’s final season, writing Frontios and later contributed a Dalek storyline for Big Finish, as well as scripts for his Lost Story The Hollows of Time. He novelised his three TV scripts for Target Books, and narrated the audiobook versions of each.

As a journalist, Bidmead contributed to New Scientist, and the emphasis on harder science was evident during his time on the show (he talks about this period in an interview with the Daily Telegraph here).
