Although designed to placate the fear of Doctor Who fans, following the silence after the end of Series 15 / Season 2 at the end of May regarding the future of the show, BBC Content Chief Kate Phillips’ words at the Edinburgh TV festival might have been better chosen.

At present, Doctor Who is not in production, with the only remaining project the UNIT spin-off now apparently confirmed for a 2026 airing.

“Rest assured, Doctor Who is going nowhere,” Phillips said. “Disney has been a great partnership — and it continues with The War Between The Land And The Sea next year — but going forward, with or without Disney, Doctor Who will still be on the BBC … The Tardis is going nowhere.”
