Decades after they first appeared in the 1989 Doctor Who story Battlefield, Winifred Bruce’s Bambera is being reunited with Marcus Gilbert’s Ancelyn – although not so much time will have passed for the characters.
The turn-of-the-century UNIT team – Brigadier Winifred Bambera (Angela Bruce), Sergeant Jean-Paul Savarin (Alex Jordan), and Dr Louise Rix (Yemisi Oyinloye) – are having a tough old time.
In their most recent box set – Fractures, released in June – dimensional rifts led to them facing threats including a giant monster on the Yorkshire moors and parallel universe versions of themselves. And now, another rift has opened… leading to Camelot and Bambera’s spouse, Ancelyn.
Now, after husband and wife have spent some time separated across the dimensions, Ancelyn is back. But this isn’t a peaceful reunion, as UNIT must venture into Camelot to deal with the threat of the vicious Queen Guinevere (Genevieve Gaunt).
Worlds are about to collide as Winifred Bambera faces the greatest dilemma of her life. Her lost beloved husband Ancelyn is back – and all hell is about to break loose. Facing armies of darkness and the wrath of the mighty Queen Guinevere, can the course of true love run smooth – just this once?
The three new full-cast audio adventures for the UNIT crew are:
Deep Water by Georgia Cook
Storm over Albion by Felicia Barker
Shining Armour by Robert Valentine
On reurning to the role he first played in 1989, Marcus Gilbert said: “Bumping into Angela is always good. She’s a wonderful lady, and I’m so happy to see her. It’s the character development as well, after so many years – it’s a whole other dimension, which gives us a lot to do and a lot to enjoy.”
Producer Alfie Shaw said: “The series has been building to Ancelyn ever since it started and it’s great to end my run on UNIT by bringing him back. Script editor Rob Valentine and I knew when we were planning the two sets that we had to finish with this.
“Brave New World has resisted bringing in returning elements while the characters and the world were bedded in, but we couldn’t hold off on this forever. The dynamic between Ancelyn and Bambera is one of the highlights of Battlefield, and it’s been a blast reuniting them.
“Knightfall follows on directly from Fractures, with the two sets essentially forming one really bad week for UNIT. It started with a Kaiju attack and now they’ve been thrown into the midst of an inter-dimensional Cold War. We finally go to the Albion referenced in Battlefield and explore how it’s changed after losing both Arthur and Merlin.”
UNIT – Brave New World: Knightfall is now available to pre-order as a digital download to own for just £19.99, exclusively from http://www.bigfinish.com.
