We’re under a month out from Superman and it’s looking really good. The new trailer drops in some major new beats too, and Alasdair Stuart took a look to see what he could find.

0.16 – ‘The most powerful being on planet Earth.’

Aside from Lex’s delightful sneer, we get a fun bit of context for where Clark is. That looks like a communications tower on top of a building to the left. Placed right after the skyscraper collapse in the trailer, I wonder if this really is right after the skyscraper collapse in the movie.

0,26 – Team Lex at the Fortress of Solitude

It’ll be very interesting to see if Angela Spica, the Engineer, changes sides in the movie. Her comic incarnation is part of The Authority, an epic scale team fighting to change the world by any means necessary. Here she’s doing a lot of Super robot murdering, including either Number 8 or Number 1. Alan Tudyk?! NOOOO!

0.41 – ‘WHO RAISED YOU AS A CHILD?! I’ll kill them too.’

Oh the moment he comes for the Kents is the moment Lex enters a WORLD of hurt.

1.14 – KRYPTO!

We see Clark and his goodest boy handing a beat down to what seems to be the mysterious helmeted figure working with Flagg Sr. Interestingly, there’s some speculation this is a Superman clone. He doesn’t look the same in this shot, but then again Clark (complete with gnarly black eye) is handing out full strength punches so I doubt he’s human.

Also the teeth getting knocked out and bouncing off the camera? Absolutely here for that kind of goofy!

1.21 – ‘Make a move, Big Blue.’

Guy Gardner has a long proud history of writing cheques with his ego his face can’t cash. This may be one of those times. Interesting green lighting too, i wonder if this is a Kryptonite laced area.

1.28 – WHAT?!

The green baby has been referred to as Baby Joey in merchandising but what’s with the tentacles?! Where is Clark?! Why is he literally holding the baby?! Is that Metamorpho on the right of the screen?!

1.30 – ‘Buckle up!’

Lois Lane is one of the most fun characters in comics history and this looks like the first Superman movie in a while to remember that. Also the livery and T-shaped windshield suggests she’s flying Mr Terrific’s ship.

1.38 – ‘They chose him. Let them die.’

Hoult’s a great actor and he does cocky edgelord very well. His Lex looks set to be the exact right combo of prissy and dangerous.

1.49 – ‘I’m not messing around, I’m doing important stuff.’

That’s my guy. Clark Kent, most powerful being on Earth and permanently slightly put upon good dude doing his best,.

1.53 – WHAT! Redux

Who the hell is this army of dudes?! They go by too fast to see but they almost look like Hammers of Boravia. Whoever they are, again, Clark’s cutting loose on them so not human.

Superman is released on July 11.
