On its own it’s very odd and I found it very silly at times. The opening sequence for instance should have been horrifying, but comes across as just daft.

Doctor Who has gotten somewhat too fantastical in a lot of areas. Even if it’s good to have familiar villains somehow refresh the magic like the Rani, the Toymaker, Sutekh and now Omega, it’s easier for Whovians like myself to nostalgically re-watch the simpler eras of the franchise. Even if there’s a good deal to be curious about after this season, it could be another Trial for a Time Lord to see how successful the show hopes to be from here.
