American actor Val Kilmer, whose roles included both Batman and Simon Templar in the 1997 version of The Saint, has died aged 65.
Kilmer was perhaps best known for his roles in Top Gun and The Doors; his other genre appearances include the spoof Top Secret!, Willow, The Island of Dr Moreau and Red Planet, with vocal roles including the 2008 reboot of Knight Rider as KITT.
