Star Trek and Transformers writer Roberto “Bob” Orci has died, aged 51.
Orci, with his writing partner Alex Kurtzman, worked on multiple genre shows and films over the years, starting with Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess. He was writer/producer on Mission: Impossible III, as well as co-creating Fringe with Kurtzman and JJ Abrams, while they were working on the first of the three “Kelvin-verse” Star Trek films. (“Star Trek is something I’ve always loved in a way that I can’t describe. My uncle got me into it when I was little. For me, Star Trek is the dream come true”, Orci told Total Sci-Fi in 2008). His other genre work included The Mummy, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as the TV series Sleepy Hollow.
