The Netflix adaptation of The Sandman is not going beyond the second season.

The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season,” showrunner Allan Heinberg said in a statement. “We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.”

Tom Sturridge stars as Morpheus with Boyd Holbrook as Corinthian, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Patton Oswalt as the voice of Matthew the Raven, David Thewlis as John Dee, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death.

This follows Prime Video’s curtailment of Good Omens to a 90 minute wrap up for the third season, the recent cancellation of an adaptation of Coraline for the stage in the UK and Dark Horse’s decision to cancel further publication of their adaptation of Anansi Boys.
