 James Darren, who starred in The Time Tunnel and as Vic Fontaine in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, has died aged 88.

Darren was a teen idol and pop singer before being cast by Irwin Allen as the co-lead in The Time Tunnel. He combined singing and acting for his role as Fontaine, the holographic nightclub singer. His other genre work included an episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, two pilots, The Man from the 25th Century, and City Beneath the Sea, both for Allen. He also directed seven episodes of the 1987 series Werewolf.
