The next season of Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon will only consist of eight episodes, according to Deadline.

HBO didn’t give a precise order number when the second season was ordered, and it now seems the fantasy show will lose two episodes from its initial run, which, Deadline says, was story driven. Creator George R R Martin had hoped that the show would eventually comprise four ten-episode runs; it seems that plans for season 3 are advanced, and are partly why a shorter season 2 makes sense to the creators.
