The 2017 Wonder Woman movie will be getting the Films in Concert treatment this October at the Royal Albert Hall.
The superhero movie receives its world premiere as an in-concert experience.
The movie – which will be introduced on stage by its composer, Rupert Gregson-Williams – is one of three titles added to the Hall’s Films in Concert calendar , with Amadeus and Jurassic Park also confirmed to return following sold-out screenings.
Matthew Todd, Director of Programming and Engagement at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “Films in Concert is about bringing the magic and majesty of film music to centre stage – and this year’s programme features unforgettable music from the likes of John Williams, Howard Shore and Ludwig Göransson. The series is also a celebration of the communal experience of cinema: a chance to enjoy those tearjerking scenes, jump scares and punch-the-air moments in the company of 5,000 other fans. No-one who’s seen a Films in Concert show will ever forget it, and these six movies will showcase the format at its finest, whether your passion is for court intrigue, dinosaurs or hobbits.”
Wonder Woman, screening as part of Warner Bros’ 100th anniversary celebrations, features Gal Gadot in an epic action-adventure based on the DC Comics superhero. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on the sheltered island paradise of Themyscira, Diana leaves her home when American pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world. Convinced she can stop the threat and, fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
The film’s score – written for full symphony orchestra – is by Rupert Gregson-Williams, the Emmy-nominated composer of The Crown, Hotel Rwanda, Hacksaw Ridge and Aquaman. It will be conducted by Carolyn Kuan.
The action-packed adventure, Jurassic Park, pits man against prehistoric predators in the ultimate battle for survival. Featuring visually-stunning imagery and groundbreaking special effects, this epic film is sheer movie magic, 65-million years in the making. This year’s special, 30th-anniversary screenings – featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra – follow the premiere of Jurassic Park in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2016, which broke all box-office records, selling out its 20,000 tickets in just 24 hours.
