Gerald Fried, who composed for many genre series including Mission: Impossible and Star Trek, has died aged 95.
Fried was responsible for the score for Amok Time, which featured the now infamous Star Trek fighting music for the scene between Kirk and Spock that has been homaged regularly, including in Star Trek Into Darkness.
In addition to four episodes of the original Star Trek, Fried scored Stanley Kubrick’s early films, as well as genre offerings such as The Vampire, The Return of Dracula, Curse of the Faceless Man, The Man From UNCLE (including the episodes that became the theatrical movies One Spy Too Many, One of Our Spies is Missing and The Karate Killers), Lost in Space, Mission: Impossible, and the UNCLE reunion movie The Return of the Man From UNCLE.
