After the Prime Video version of I Know What You Did Last Summer failed to get a second season, a further sequel to the original movie is on the way.

According to Deadline, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze jr are in talks to reprise their roles from the 1997 movie version of Lois Duncan’s book, which has already spawned two movie sequels (one of which they also starred in). Leah McKendrick is lined up to pen the script with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s directing, based on an idea by the pair that is designed to reinvigorate the franchise in a similar manner to the recent Scream movies.
