Melinda Dillon, who starred in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, has died aged 83.

The Spielberg UFO movie wasn’t the actress’ only contribution to the genre – she was nominated for a Saturn Award for her role in Harry and the Hendersons, and appeared in the often forgotten 1990 Captain America TV movie. Her other credits include the 1980s version of The Outer Limits.
