A new RPG book based on the classic The Box of Delights is currently funding via Kickstarter.

The Box of Delights RPG is a self-contained, rules-lite RPG (based on the ‘TWAS RPG rules) that allows you and a group of friends to play through the events of John Masefield’s classic, with some surprises thrown in along the way. The rules can then be used to turn other Sunday teatime serials – or anything, for that matter – into RPG scenarios.

Players take on the roles of Kay Harker and the Jones children as they experience the events of the book firsthand, encountering the mysterious Punch-and-Judy Man and becoming embroiled in the sinister plot being perpertrated by the wizard Abner Brown and his coven of wolf-worshipping witches around the Winter Solstice in the run up to Christmas.

The Box of Delights – The Roleplaying Game is ideal for a festive gaming session with an established group, or even as an alternative to the games usually played on Christmas Day. It is written by Jonathan Green and illustrated by Tony Hough – the creators of ‘TWAS – The Roleplaying Game Before Christmas – and licensed through The Society of Authors, the Literary Representative of the Estate of John Masefield.
