James Wan has confirmed that a fourth Conjuring movie – potentially the ninth in the series – is on the way.

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is writing the script; his most recent screenplay is for the Aquaman sequel out soon. James Wan and Peter Safran will produce with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga returning, according to Wan.

“We’ve been slowly and carefully crafting away on this,” Wan posted on Facebook. “We didn’t want to rush this until we’ve got something that is worthwhile. And I’m really excited and encouraged with the direction David is working on. Even more excited to have @verafarmiga and @thereelpatrickwilson back!”

The Nun 2, the eighth movie in the franchise, started shooting last week.
