One of the more unusual Torchwood tales is out today from Big Finish.

A poisonous mist drives Tosh and Ianto to the edge in Torchwood: SUV. Naoko Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd star in a claustrophobic drama written by Ash Darby, with BAFTA-nominee Nigel Havers along for the ride as the voice of the infamous Torchwood SUV.

A routine alien incursion in the Valleys goes horribly wrong. Toshiko Sato and Ianto Jones are trapped in the Torchwood SUV. There’s a monster outside and it’s determined to get in. Can Tosh and Ianto overcome their differences and save the world? More importantly, will the SUV keep them safe? 

Gareth David-Lloyd said: “I think Naoko and I work better together than Tosh and Ianto do in this episode. There’s no bickering!” Naoko Mori added: “We’re literally family. We’ve known each other for 7,000 years.”

Producer James Goss said: “Torchwood: SUV sees Naoko and Gareth on sparkling form as Tosh and Ianto spend an evening saving the world while trapped in a car.

“What does the SUV sound like? Obviously, the suavest voice alive. He’s broken so many hearts, including Sarah Jane Smith’s. I’m so pleased that Nigel Havers found time to come in and say some very silly things beautifully.”
