Harry Potter and James Bond star Robbie Coltrane has died aged 72.
Renowned for his work as forensic psychologist Cracker, Coltrane played Hagrid throughout the Harry Potter screen saga, and made two memorable appearances opposite Pierce Brosnan’s 007 as Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky in GoldenEye and The World is Not Enough. His other genre work included Flash Gordon, Metal Mickey, Krull, Blackadder’s Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland, From Hell, Van Helsing, Stormbreaker and The Gruffalo and its sequel.
I first saw Robbie in the 1992 Canadian film Oh What A Night. He was one of our most unique and likeable actors. I’m glad that he joined the Harry Potter family and could also be in films like From Hell and TV shows like Cracker. He had a very good career. R.I.P., Robbie.
