There’s going to be a new screen tale of John Constantine – but not on HBO Max.

Warner Bros. have announced that Keanu Reeves and Francis Lawrence are returning as star and director respectively of a sequel to the 2005 movie, which will be written and produced by Akiva Goldsman.

HBO Max, however, has passed on the proposed TV series from Bad Robot – along with their Madame X series. These will be shopped elsewhere – there are already four scripts for the Constantine project and a pilot for Madame X.

The character has recently been seen on Legends of Tomorrow and in the Sandman series.
