Toshiko Sato is sectioned in the new full-cast Torchwood audio drama released today by Big Finish .

Naoko Mori stars in Alexander Stewart’s Suckers, which finds Tosh as a patient in a psychiatric unit, claiming it’s infested with aliens! In her vulnerable state, Tosh can’t be sure if Torchwood is real or if it’s been a figment of her imagination all along…

This disconcerting but sensitively written audio drama features debut Big Finish performances from Emma Kaler (as Shireen Afzal) and The Royal’s Linda Armstrong (as Felicia Haynes), alongside strong support from Dylan Jones (Steffan Blayney) and Nick Asbury (Ivan).

Shireen’s not exactly enjoying being sectioned, but she’s been in worse places. That psychiatric unit in Brecon was a right dump. This one’s alright, though. There’s table tennis, art therapy and they even get to do a bit of gardening. There’s only one problem. Shireen’s roommate. Toshiko –she’s a total space cadet, convinced the unit is overrun by aliens. Yeah, right.

Naoko Mori said: “Tosh isn’t quite sure where or who she is. She’s really doubting herself, what’s happened to her and who she is. It’s a tough journey and a learning curve for her.”

Producer James Goss added: “Suckers is a brilliantly worrying debut audio from Alexander Stewart. We take Torchwood for granted but this is a chilling look at what happens when Toshiko’s very unusual career finds her placed in an inflexible institution that really wants to cure her of her conviction that she’s seeing aliens all the time. It’s also very darkly funny.”

Torchwood: Suckers is available to own as a collector’s edition CD (+ download for just £10.99) or digital download only (for just £8.99), exclusively from http://www.bigfinish.com.
