Although it’s been acknowledged quietly for some time, it has now been confirmed that M Night Shyamalan’s new movie is based on Paul Tremblay’s novel The Cabin at the End of the World.

Retitled Knock at the Cabin, the new movie won’t be an exact version of the novel. Once cleared to discuss the movie, Tremblay told CNBC “Like the majority of adaptations, there will be story changes and differences compared to the book so my readers will still be surprised by the film… The Cabin at the End of the World is itself a reaction to the home invasion film subgenre. Most of me is excited and intrigued at the prospect of seeing my story reimagined or refracted on screen.”
