There’s something rather different about this week’s Strange New Worlds as it ventures into the realm of fantasy

The story is probably the most high concept we’ve seen yet this year, and I suspect that the cast had an absolute blast, the viewer less so.

  1. Just as the classic Trek’s first multiverse-themed story in its first season, The Alternative Factor, left us wondering why they bothered to make it, with the Hugo-winning “Mirror, Mirror” making great amends in the second season, having a multiverse-themed story so early on in Strange New Worlds may not have been the best idea. Doctor Who was wise to wait until its Season 7 with Inferno, and X-Files until its 25th Anniversary with The Lost Art Of Forehead Sweat. If you have an SF universe with so much worth exploring, it’s best to take your time with certain formulae. Of course I’m sure that the acting of the SNW cast as their alternate selves will still be a significant attraction. Thanks for your review.
