Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

Award-winning actors Celia Imrie and David Warner return to play Lavinia Sixpence and Desmund Shilling in six new full-cast audio dramas, due for release in November 2022.

The crime-solving duo embark on a new series of murder mysteries in the long-awaited second Shilling & Sixpence Investigate box set, Cease to Be, from Big Finish Originals.

The dramatic cliffhanger from series 1 will finally be resolved and more dark secrets revealed as the unlikely investigative pair uncover horrible truths in the Cornish village of Morlington.

The brand-new stories in this ‘whodunnit’ box set, all written by Nigel Fairs, are as follows:

Producer and writer Nigel Fairs said: “After exactly 25 years of writing, producing and performing in The Morlington Mysteries, I left the fictional Cornish villages. It’s been a real pleasure to return to that world.

“David [Warner] and Celia [Imrie] were extraordinary together. I was able to push their relationship just a little further in some new, interesting directions, and of course they responded beautifully.

“Having two such amazing leads really brings everyone’s game up, as does having the sublime Sam Clemens as director. As the cast are all so ridiculously talented anyway, the whole thing will, I think, be a sumptuous feast for the ears!”

Director Samuel Clemens added: “Being asked back to direct a follow up to the first season is firstly, an honour and secondly, a delight. The first season was my directorial debut for Big Finish, so this series holds a very special place in my heart. Last season ended on such a cliffhanger that I am so glad we can release that long-overdue suspense and build more exciting, twisting and turning storylines.
