Alexis Bledel won’t be returning for the fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The actress, who has played Emily / Ofglen and received Emmy nominations for each of the show’s four seasons, decided not to return. “After much thought, I felt I had to step away from The Handmaid’s Tale at this time,” Bledel said in a statement quoted on Deadline. “I am forever grateful to Bruce Miller for writing such truthful and resonant scenes for Emily, and to Hulu, MGM, the cast and crew for their support.”
There’s no release date for season 5 as yet.
