Spider-Man movie director Jon Watts – who recently dropped out of Marvel’s Fantastic Four reboot – is heading to the galaxy far far away.
According to a major piece on the future of the Star Wars franchise in Vanity Fair, he will be helming a coming of age series, “code name: Grammar Rodeo, a reference to an episode of The Simpsons in which Bart and his schoolmates steal a car and run away for a week” which will have the tone of the classic Amblin coming of age movies (such as The Goonies) from the 1980s. Watts will be reunited with his Spider-Man writer Chris Ford for the show, set in the same period as The Mandalorian and its spin-offs, between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
