American actor James Olson, best known to genre fans for his role as Dr Mark Hall in the Michael Crichton tale The Andromeda Strain, has died aged 91.

Olson had a wide career on stage and screen, with his other genre roles including the Wonder Woman TV series, The Bionic Woman, as Thane in the Gun on Ice Planet Zero two-parter of Battlestar Galactica, Project UFO, and Amityville II: The Possession.

  1. James Olson’s climactic scene in The Andromeda Strain was a very good first impression for me. I remember him from a few other things. Including Commando and guest appearances in Columbo and Murder She Wrote. He was one of the finest general purpose actors. R.I.P., James.
