A second full trailer has been released for Lightyear, the Pixar spin-off to the Toy Story franchise.
The movie features the voices of Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger, Fantastic Four), as accomplished Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black,” “In Treatment”) as his commander and best friend Alisha Hawthorne and Peter Sohn (Luca, The Good Dinosaur) as Sox. Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi and Dale Soules lend their voices to the Junior Zap Patrol’s Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison and Darby Steel, respectively, and James Brolin can be heard as the enigmatic Zurg. The voice cast also includes Mary McDonald-Lewis as onboard computer I.V.A.N., Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Commander Burnside, Efren Ramirez as Airman Diaz, and Keira Hairston as Young Izzy. The film is directed by Angus MacLane (co-director “Finding Dory”), from a screenplay by Pete Docter (Toy Story, Soul, Inside Out).
The legendary Space Ranger finds himself stranded on a hostile planet some 4.2 million light-years away from the Earth along with his commander and crew. As Buzz tries to navigate his way back home through space and time, he is joined by a group of ambitious recruits and their adorable robot cat companion, Sox. To make matters worse and threaten the mission, an imposing presence going by the name of Zurg arrives with an army of ruthless robots and a mysterious agenda.
Lightyear is released on June 17.
