Denis Villeneuve’s Dune has triumphed at the Visual Effects Society Awards held on March 8.

The first part of the epic adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel won Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature as well as Outstanding Model in a Photoreal or Animated Project for the Ornithopter, Outstanding Effects Simulations in a Photoreal Feature for the Dunes themselves and Outstanding Compositing & Lighting in a Feature for the Attack on Arakeen.

Fellow classic SF adaptation Foundation did well in the small screen categories, Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode (The Emperor’s Peace) and Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Episode, Commercial, or Real-Time Project for the collapse of the Galactic Empire.
