Graphic designers Mike and Denise Okuda were honoured at the Art Director Guild Awards this weekend for their work across their career, which has included, but is by no means confined to, the Star Trek movies and series.
Genre films won in multiple categories in the main awards. Dune won best fantasy film, No Time to Die was best contemporary movie, and Encanto won best animated feature. Loki’s Glorious Purpose was hailed as best one hour fantasy or period single camera series, Squid Game’s Gganbu was best one-hour contemporary single camera series; WandaVision was best TV movie or limited series; What We Do in the Shadows won best half hour single camera series. The Harry Potter reality show even won in that category!
