Sony’s Spider-verse standalone Kraven the Hunter is fleshing out its cast ready for filming.

West Side Story’s Ariana DeBose is set to play Calypso opposite Aaron Taylor Johnson’s Kraven – the character is a voodoo priestess in the original Marvel universe, and Kraven’s occasional lover. Alessandro Nivola has also joined the cast as the villain of the piece, although at present his identity has not been revealed.

Kraven is written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk with JC Chandor directing; it’s due to open in January 2023.
