The new documentary about the life of Gerry Anderson will get its premiere at London’s BFI.
Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted will premiere on Saturday 9 April with tickets going on sale in late February.
This special screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s director & producer Benjamin Field, and producer Jamie Anderson – the youngest son of Gerry Anderson – marking the start of a run of screening and Q&A events that will take place across the UK and beyond over the coming months.
A nationwide tour kicks off on Friday 15 April at the UK’s oldest cinema, The Electric, Birmingham hosted by performer and mimic Jon Culshaw who voices Parker and Jeff Tracy in the current classic Thunderbirds audio stories.
Further screening locations and dates will be announced in the coming months.
Released a decade after his death, this incredibly revealing, emotionally charged and deeply personal documentary will draw on exclusive access to over 30 hours of previously unpublished interviews in order to share the untold stories that defined his life and body of work.
Gerry Anderson’s career spanned 60 years over which he created and produced some of the world’s most beloved children’s television series including Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlet, Space: 1999, Terrahawks, Space Precinct and many more – some with his second wife, Sylvia.
In a fitting tribute to the technical pioneer and with permission from son Jamie, A Life Uncharted will use artificial intelligence to bring Gerry Anderson to life via a ‘deep fake’ simulation, allowing him to candidly share his story on screen.
With additional interviews and commentary from friends, family, fans and colleagues, viewers will bear witness to a revealing look back through Gerry Anderson’s life – from a poverty-stricken childhood at the hands of warring parents charting a previously undisclosed story of his journey, to becoming the legendary creator whose legacy still inspires and entertains to this day.
The documentary will launch on subscription service Britbox in the UK on Thursday 14 April, known to fans as Gerry Anderson Day, where subscribers will be able to watch the documentary alongside many of Gerry Anderson’s series which are all available on the platform.
