Ivan Reitman, director of the first two Ghostbusters movies, has died aged 75.
“Our family is grieving the unexpected loss of a husband, father, and grandfather who taught us to always seek the magic in life,” his children Jason Reitman, Catherine Reitman, and Caroline Reitman said in a joint statement to AP. “We take comfort that his work as a filmmaker brought laughter and happiness to countless others around the world. While we mourn privately, we hope those who knew him through his films will remember him always.”
As well as the two Ghostbusters movies which he directed and produced, Reitman produced the most recent addition to the franchise, directed by son Jason, and directed Twins, My Super Ex-Girlfriend and Evolution. He was a producer on Shivers, Space Jam and A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting.
