The CW has given an order to The Winchesters – a prequel to Supernatural – and Gotham Knights, another story in the world of Batman, but is not moving forward at the present time with Babylon 5.

The Winchesters follows Dean and Sam Winchester’s parents – John and Mary – and tells the epic love story of how they met and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world. It will be told by Jensen Ackles’ Dean Winchester as narrator.

Gotham Knights is described as: “In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviours known as the Gotham Knights.” Danny Cannon is directing the pilot.

The new version of Babylon 5 was not included in this year’s slate, although creator J Michael Straczynski assured fans on Patreon that it has been rolled into next year, and thus is “in active development” for 2023.
