Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

The meeting of Mr Colchester and Dorothy McShane (aka Ace) is finally with us.

Paul Clayton and Sophie Aldred co-star in the latest monthly adventure in the Torchwood audio range, The Red List by James Goss. Conspiracy, calamity and a cryptic crossword all feature as the Seventh Doctor’s former companion Ace meets the most grumpy member of the Cardiff alien investigation team in a moderately-priced hotel.

At first it was lights in the sky. Then the country started falling apart. Torchwood has come to help. So has A Charitable Earth. But there’s a problem. Mr Colchester and Ms McShane find themselves trapped in a quarantine hotel in the middle of an alien invasion.  Can they save the world without leaving their rooms? 

The cast is completed by Manuel Pacific (Terminator: Dark Fate) making his Big Finish debut as Xavier, a maintenance man who deals with Mr Colchester’s constant complaints.

Actor Paul Clayton said: “In The Red List, we get to hear Mr Colchester interacting with somebody new who, perhaps, has no preconceptions about him.

“Normally, his sardonic witticisms are pushed to one side while the plot moves forward. Here, I think, we get him at his full, slightly slanted, look at the world. Certainly, it’s great fun to do. To work with Sophie is a joy.”
