BBV’s PROBE series is coming to print, with Arcbeatle Press releasing Out of the Shadows, an anthology of tales about the Preternatural Research Bureau.

Created for BBV in the 1990s, the new anthology focuses on a new team of investigators as they “delve into a hidden world of monsters, ghosts, and aliens.”

The book contains stories by authors old and new to the Doctor Who universe, including John Peel (War of the Daleks, The Grandfather Infestation), Steve Lyons (Conundrum, The Stealer of Dreams), and Stuart Douglas (Iris Wildthyme and the Celestial Omnibus).

Out of the Shadows features twelve brand new stories:

Preternatural Days by James Hornby

There, but Not Seen by Kylie Leane

The 262 by Stuart Douglas

How To Appear Human In Several Uneasy Lessons by John Peel

A Honeycomb of Souls by James Wylder

The Last Few Pages by Hunter O’Connell

The One That Got Away by Steve Lyons

The Forest in the Fog by E Southern

Nowhere Women by James Wylder

What Lurks in the Shadows by James Hornby

Out of the Box by Aristide Twain

Preternatural Nights by James Hornby

“With Out of the Shadows we’re hoping to take the P.R.O.B.E. series to a new generation,” said editor James Hornby, “and to do that, we’ve gathered together both veteran writers and exciting new talent. The anthology is a great jumping on point for those new to the series, and for die hard Doctor Who fans we have some lovely treats in store. Some readers may recognise familiar monsters like the Selachians pop up in the book, in addition to a few other surprises to make our stories sparkle…”
