American actor Michael K Williams has died, aged 54.

The star of The Wire and Boardwalk Empire is probably best known to genre audiences for his role as Montrose Freeman in HBO’s Lovecraft Country, for which he won multiple awards and has been Emmy-nominated.

His other genre work included JJ Abrams’ Alias, and the 2014 Robocop. He played the Thief in the 2009 adaptation of The Road, and was Agent Hawkins for the 2016 Ghostbusters.
