HBO Max has passed on Overlook, the Bad Robot prequel to the Stephen King story The Shining.
Written by Dustin Thomason and Scott Brown, the story returned to the hotel at the heart of The Shining to tell the stories of some of its former inhabitants – some of whom are glimpsed in flashbacks during both book and film. According to Deadline, the project didn’t fit in with HBO Max’s current plans. The project is being shopped around, with Netflix a likely new home.
