Taka Waititi’s take on Flash Gordon could be filmed live action rather than animation.
The film’s prospective producer John Davis told Collider during an interview to promote Jungle Cruise that “He initially said to me, ‘Let’s do it animated.’ I said, ‘Okay.’ Then we got into it and started developing it and he said, ‘No, let’s do it live-action.’ I said, ‘Even better.'”
Waititi has a very particular take on the character and franchise, which was last seen on screen in the 2007 Syfy show. The 1980 Mike Hodges film has been acknowledged as a major influence on him.
