Another Octavia E. Butler story is getting a screen treatment – this time the 2005 vampire novel Fledgling.

Lovecraft Country’s Sonya Winton-Odamtten and Jonathan I. Kidd are writing the pilot, about an amnesiac girl who eventually realises she is a genetically modified 53 year old vampire. Issa Rae and JJ Abrams are among the series’ executive producers alongside Winton-Odamtten and Kidd. Warner Bros. TV are producing the project.

Butler’s Parable of the Sower is being developed as a feature film. The author died in 2006.
