Stephen Payne, publisher of Visual Imagination, has died aged 66.
Doctor Who historian David J Howe reported the news on social media. Payne was one of the co-founders of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society, and later founded VI in 1985. He purchased the rights to Starburst, which became the jewel in the crown of a publishing empire that included TV Zone and Shivers, and saw the professional debut of many writers.
