Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

There’s more stories to be told from the world of the Exorcist – with news that Universal and Peacock are preparing a new trilogy of movies.

David Gordon Green will direct the movies which will see Hamilton‘s Leslie Odom Jr. star as the father of a possessed child who seeks out the aid of Ellen Burstyn’s Chris MacNeil, mother of the possessed Regan. Universal Pictures and and NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock, in partnership with Blumhouse and Morgan Creek will produce the films, with the first set for release on October 13, 2023.

“There’s no better time to be joining forces with the team at Peacock, reuniting with the great team at Universal and finally getting to work with my friends at Blumhouse, than on this classic franchise,” David Robinson, Morgan Creek President said in a statement. “David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, Scott Teems and Peter Sattler have put together a compelling continuation of this iconic tale and I can’t wait to bring this to fans around the world.”

Although it’s also a continuation, there doesn’t seem at present to be any link to the Exorcist TV series.
