There’s another adventure in store for Norton Folgate and co. back at Torchwood Soho.
Ashenden features Samuel Barnett’s return to the role of agent Norton Folgate, as he enlists the help of Sergeant Andy Davidson (Tom Price), his old boss Lizbeth Hayhoe (Dervla Kirwan) and journalist Gideon Lyme (Joe Shire) to fight against a creeping darkness – and to stop it before Norton’s past catches up with him…
Welcome to Ashenden. An exciting new town just outside London and also the home of a terrible secret. London has been infiltrated – a darkness is spreading from the bombsites to the highest ranks of government. A darkness that cannot be stopped. A desperate hunt is on from the man who caused it. The past has come for Torchwood agent Norton Folgate. This is the hour of the hollow man.
The six episodes are:
1. Pimlico
2. O Little Town Of Ashenden
3. The National Health
4. Rivers Of Blood
5. Now Is The Time For All Good Men
6. The Hour Of The Hollow Man
Writer James Goss said: “I’m so pleased we’re doing a second Torchwood Soho boxset. We obviously had to find a way of bringing the acid-tongued boss of 1950s Torchwood back from the dead as we just couldn’t face doing it without Dervla Kirwan. So, we’ve reunited her with Tom Price, Sam Barnett and Joe Shire in a story that’s about alien invasions and town planning.
“There’s something wrong in the commuter town of Ashenden and the secret to it lies in Torchwood’s past. It’s a tribute to the alien paranoia movies of the period, but it’s also a celebration of how a bunch of unusual outsiders really can save the day.”
Of playing Lizbeth Hayhoe, Dervla Kirwan added: “She’s a fabulous character. I adore how rude she is. In real life I’m quite a shy person and I’d never say the kind of things she just comes out with without even a thought about the consequences. It’s the first time I’ve ever been resurrected and I’m loving it.”
